About Duncan: Kings Island Area

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • Rescue ID: MEN1111Dun
  • Housetrained: Yes
This little man is about 7 years old. He has settled nicely into his foster home with cats, kids and other dogs. Here's what they told us: Duncan is a male Beagle mix weighing only 20 pounds. His age is not known, but it is suspected that he is approximately 7 or 8 years old. Although not a lot of information was known about Duncan when he was found and taken to the shelter, he does present like a senior Beagle. After being in foster care a few weeks, his foster Mom suspects that maybe he belonged to an elderly person that went into nursing care or is now deceased. Duncan has a very low activity level and really enjoys the comfort of his bed. This little guy is a true couch-potato in every sense of the word and would do very well in low energy home with someone to lay next to on the couch. Duncan doesn’t bark and is crate trained. His house-training is progressing well. While in foster care, Duncan has exhibited absolutely no interest in any of the cats or very young kittens. He minds his own business and has kind of a “live and let live” attitude. Duncan is currently being fostered with a younger more energetic Beagle (see also Brandon) and does seem to engage him in mild rough-housing a couple of times a day. Duncan enjoys chewing his rawhides, sunning in the early afternoon sun and of course sleeping in his soft comfy orthopedic bed. He may have the onset of some arthritis in his back hip area. Duncan does not seem to have the typical food motivation of a Beagle until it comes to “people-food”. This little guy will turn into an fast moving little beggar over a cheeseburger; therefore, I believe Duncan has been fed people food at some point and sometimes will not eat his food. Duncan must go to a home in which he will be an inside dog preferably with a fenced yard. He would NOT enjoy the hustle and bustle of a busy home with children. If you’re the kind of person that enjoys curling up on the couch and watching TV or reading a book, then this little guy will be right by your side. This little low maintenance guy is sweet with a capital SWEET! Requested donation is $135, and you will receive a $35 vet care rebate back, Courtesy of Iams' "Home for the Holidays" program.
